Has nothing been learned from the Holocaust? In a dubious first for the EU and NATO, a member country (Lithuania) this week presented a coalition government which includes a party headed by an avowed and proud rabid antisemite. Attached is a video of selected pearls of Remigijus Žemaitaitis' carefully worded 'political victim' speech in the Seimas this week. It is a masterpiece of demagogic demonization of the Jewish people. You see, he has nothing against the Jews, just Israeli PM Netanyahu is an international criminal, Israeli troops target and torture civilians and steal their homes (note baby crying on the huge video screens, the poetic song about how the Israeli soldiers steal Palestinian homes, and how Gaza is destroyed "as in three Atom bombs"!), Jews hate Christians (according to a YouTube video...), after all the leader of the Lithuanian Jewish Community says Jews hate Lithuanians, and he only despises 'certain' Jews who were affiliated with the KGB and NKVD. He also never made 'degrading antisemitic remarks like other Lithuanian politicians about Jewish women being prostitutes and about Jewish cemeteries.....!
I am waiting for someone to explain how this can happen in an EU and NATO country with the highest rate of Jewish decimation in the Holocaust (96.4%), and the highest rate of participation/collaboration in the Holocaust (it goes together?), has nothing been learnt from the past? Where is the public outcry from all the honest and decent Lithuanians I have come to know and admire?
