Yesterday, January 14th ,  2025, was an historic day at the Lithuanian Seimas. In anticipation of the upcoming International Holocaust Day on the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz, the Seimas passed a resolution (83-0, 5 abstentions) condemning antisemitism and related issues. Toward the end of the resolution, for the first time, the Seimas addresses the issues of the preservation of Jewish cemeteries and mass graves, and the rest of our agenda of promoting authentic Lithuanian Jewish Heritage. In essence the Lithuanian government has accepted our blueprint, which I presented to PM Gintauatas Paluckas as he was establishing his government.

"It supports the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania to create a national plan of measures to combat anti-Semitism, xenophobia, or any other form of incitement to discord; to continue the policy of fostering Jewish life in Lithuania; including keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive, supporting the preservation of Lithuania's old Jewish cemeteries and massacre sites, memorial locations, and educational activities conducted there; to cherish the rich heritage of Jewish architecture; to support the formation of Judaica collections, their return to Lithuania, and the research of Judaica academic legacy; and to strengthen ties between Lithuanian and Litvak diasporas worldwide".
