I know the designated Lithuanian PM G. Paluckas and a number of the members of the LSDP and Democrats parties. They are genuinely good people, who have expressed real interest in helping promote Jewish heritage in Lithuania. Unfortunately, their choice of a coalition partner is misguided. I am afraid there will be serious harm to Lithuania's national security situation. I am afraid NATO might end up withdrawing the German brigade over this, and of immediate concern: incoming President Trump will say "Why should American soldiers prop up an antisemitic country." It seems to me from my perspective as understanding somewhat both sides of the Atlantic, that Lithuania is playing with fire.
Here are recent quotes from President-elect Trump.
“My first week back in the Oval Office, my administration will inform every college president that, if you do not end antisemitic propaganda, they will lose their accreditation and federal taxpayer support.”
Donald Trump couldn’t be clearer
“We will not subsidize the creation of terrorist sympathizers and we’re certainly not going to do it on American soil.
Next, I will inform every educational institution in our land that, if they permit violence, harassment, or threats against Jewish students, the schools will be held accountable for violations of the civil rights law.”
The only potential solutions I see at the moment are for Zemaitaitis to resign from the government, or at least take some real (not fake) history lessons, and then go to Ponar, where Lithuanian shooters gunned down appropriately 70,000 jews at the Nazi's request, and apologize to all Jews, murdered and alive, for the terrible things he has said.
